Solo Exhibition inside a COVID-glorified Blue-Cheap Gallery Space
2020-2021
I used to feel very intimidated by blue-chip galleries. I always felt a strong sense that I don't belong, that "I'm not wanted here" when I visit a gallery for exhibitions. It all changed when COVID-19 hit. Suddenly, these galleries, with a superior attitude in real life, were all trying to find a place to survive virtually. Many of them turned to building virtual gallery spaces, and they looked incredibly bad.
In fact, those virtual viewings created by the blue-chip galleries were so bad that for the first time in my life, I felt confident that I could make a more legit exhibition than a blue-chip gallery.
Thus, I started building my virtual gallery and hosting my own solo exhibitions. On one of the opening nights, many people showed up, making my first solo exhibition with a higher attendance than a blue-chip gallery of the same time.
The virtual gallery space can be accessed via desktop, mobile, and VR equipments.
My favorite part of the exhitibion is that the virtual space is actaully connected to my studio space in real life. I used basic 3D scanning tools to scan my studio and installed a portal to the virtual gallery inside my 3D scanned real-life studio.
As of 2022, it is no longer being maintained because I accidentally lost access to the email account I registered to login to my Mozilla Hubs. One can still access the old version virtual space until Mozilla Hubs stop their free server hosting.
